If Newcastle United are as ‘close’ to signing Valentino Lazaro as Gazzetta dello Sport believes, then it will be a nice and tidy transfer, free of the mess of some other sagas going on right now.

In their Sunday edition, the Italian newspaper reports the move from Inter to Newcastle as being ‘close’ and they have some detail to add to the claims.

The player’s agent Max Hagmayr travelled to Newcastle on Saturday to discuss the personal terms of the contract. With the Premier League club thought to be getting a buying clause, there needs to be agreement on what the contract will be beyond the summer.

As far as business between the two clubs, Gazzetta say Lazaro would be moving on loan for €2m. Newcastle’s option is set at €20m, and this figure would allow Inter to not have to declare a loss on the player next summer, given the level his book value will have amortised to.

To replace him, Antonio Conte would be looking at signing Victor Moses, who is currently on loan from Chelsea at Fenerbahce.
