Saúl Ñíguez long wanted to get a move away from Atlético Madrid and finally managed it when he sealed a loan move to Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sport Witness reported the midfielder’s chances of leaving the La Liga winners were very slim.

Later that day, we were told the deal was back on track and in the end, the 26-year-old was successful in getting the transfer he had long desired.

These claims are now backed up by the Atlético owned player’s brother, Jony, who is currently with third division Spanish side, CD Alcoyano.

“There were moments in which he was considering staying and others in which it seemed that he was going to leave, but in the end, it was done. The last hours of the market we live with nerves and also wanting to solve it,” Jony told Marca.

Just hours after completing a temporary move to Stamford Bridge, the Spain international admitted it’s a ‘gamble’ to join the Blues, while also stressing ‘it doesn’t make any sense’ for a player of his calibre to go out on loan.

Saúl brother is of the belief the midfielder, who can also operate as a left-back, had to take this step of joining the west London club.

“It has been a very complicated and very thoughtful decision, and we support him in everything. My brother has lived Atleti from a very young age and he considered that he had to take this step,” Jony explained.

Saúl will have to fight for a place under Thomas Tuchel and Jony is of the believe the competition at Chelsea will benefit the player.

“The issue of competition is good too. In the world of football, nobody assures you of anything and that you are going to play as a starter. It is a great challenge for him,” he added.
