Simon Adingra is a very classic case of Brighton’s excellent recruitment.
The Ivory Coast man arrived at the club from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2022 and then spent a loan stint at Union Saint-Gilloise, before returning to Brighton and becoming a first-team fixture.
He played 40 times for the club last season and the way things are going this season, he will be a key player for the Seagulls again.
His rise has now been boosted by the possibility of him winning an continental-level accolade.
Fraternité Matin report the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the list of nominees for the 2024 African Football Awards and that the Brighton starlet is a candidate in multiple categories.
Most prominently, he is a candidate to win the African Player of the Year 2024 and he is in the list of ten potential winners, with other names including Serhou Guirassy and Edmond Tapsoba. The newspaper seem quite excited about the winger’s inclusion.
The development should come as good news for the Seagulls, who would know that Adingra’s value can increase because of this.
While he may not be the favourite to win the award, it’ll be a big boost for the 22-year-old and further improve his confidence.
