Brighton and Hove Albion are set to send scouts to Turkey’s clash with Norway tomorrow to watch goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır.
That’s according to Asist Analiz, who also say that West Bromwich Albion will be watching over the 24-year-old at the game.
Çakır has been in impressive form for Turkish side Trabzonspor this season, with just 29 goals conceded in 28 Süper Lig games and ten clean sheets.
This has apparently seen him attract ‘the attention’ of several sides in Europe, particularly the Premier League, and they want to get a closer look at him while he’s on international duty.
After Çakır impressed against the Netherlands earlier this week, both Brighton and West Brom are said to be sending scouts to watch him again in the upcoming clash with Norway.
They are not the only ones to do so either, with Chelsea, Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Sevilla all sending their own men for a closer look too.
It’s stated that these clubs want the goalkeeper ‘closely followed’, with all of them presumably eyeing up a move at some point in the future.
Brighton’s interest will come as no surprise, given they were heavily linked throughout last year, with it reported back in August that they had even made an offer.
West Brom’s apparent interest is new, although, with Sam Allardyce in charge, it’s no surprise to see them keeping a keen eye on the foreign market.
The chances of either club getting Cakir, though, are low. Brighton are well stocked for goalkeepers as it is with Robert Sánchez’s emergence and Mat Ryan back at the club in the summer.
West Brom, meanwhile, are pretty secure with Sam Johnstone between the sticks, but even if they did fancy a new number one, Cakir is unlikely to make the move, given they’re looking certain to be back in the Championship next season.
All of which means that either club’s interest and scouting mission can probably be ignored on this occasion.
