Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly going strong for the signing of Joel Campbell from Arsenal next summer.

The interest was revealed by Futbol Centro America this Saturday, and ended up making some noise in the Portuguese press today.

On loan at Sporting until the end of the season, Campbell was a disappointment at the club for being signed a star and not being able to impress there.

CapturarThat’s why when showing the news, O Jogo confirms that Sporting have no intention of joining a race to sign the player, as when the loan was closed, the clubs agreed a fee of around €10m for a permanent transfer.

Campbell can’t complain about lack of game time, as he had 27 appearances this season already. But his form hasn’t been good enough to convince manager Jorge Jesus he deserves a start, as he hasn’t made one since January.

Futbol Centro America claims the negotiations for the player to join Galatasaray have stopped, and Brighton would use the chance to try to find a loan deal to sign him.

But as the player’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2018, the Gunners would have to renew his deal before loaning him out. That’s something not mentioned by the website, so we better wait and see if a permanent sale is not what Arsenal really want.
