Brighton & Hove Albion are keen on signing Botafogo’s Cuiabano in the summer window.

On Thursday, The Atheltic’s David Ornstein reported the Brazilian club have rejected two Seagulls offers for the left-back. Brighton’s first proposal was €5m plus €2m bonuses and they increased the bonuses by €1m in their second offer.

Globo Esporte in Brazil back that up and then provide their own updates on Brighton and Botafogo’s stance.

Just over a year ago, the Brazilian club invested R$6m [€942,326] to buy Cuiabano from Grêmio and gave him a contract until December 2027.

The left-back initially took time to find his feet and then started to feature regularly when available for selection. He’s played 49 games and 19 of them are from this year.

Despite the South American club rejecting their two bids, the report states Brighton are ‘still keeping an eye’ and could submit a new proposal. As well as the Seagulls, other unnamed European clubs have been courting the player since last year.

Globo state Botafogo’s management are expecting at least €10m to start negotiations for Cuiabano’s sale in the upcoming window.

The message has been sent to Brighton, and it remains to be seen whether they will meet their demand.
