Brighton and Hove Albion have been handed a boost in their potential move for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir, with the Turkish side already targeting a replacement.
The Seagulls have long been linked with the Turkish goalkeeper, and recent reports in Turkey claimed they had sent scouts to look at him during the recent international break.
That followed on from reports last summer that they were keen on a move and ready to offer up to €20m to bring him to England.
That, of course, never happened, and Brighton have since struck gold with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who has impressed after replacing Mat Ryan earlier this season.
The interest is there, though, and according to Fotospor, they may have a chance of getting him if they make a move.
They explain that Çakir leaving Trabzonspor this summer is ‘considered certain’, and they have already lined up a replacement.
That man is Kayserispor goalkeeper Dogan Alemdar and the Turkish side have already contacted their counterparts about a potential move.
It’s explained that they made ‘first contact’ and asked Kayserispor to send Dogan to them instead of doing a deal with one of the Istanbul teams.
They will have the money to match their demands, with Çakir ‘expected’ to go for at least €20m if he is sold.
So, that is the price Brighton will have to pay, but their prospects are certainly good if Trabzonspor already have a replacement lined up.
