Brighton & Hove Albion had Stade de Reims’ Boulaye Dia ‘on their radar’ earlier this year.

This was reported in France, and it was explained in January the Seagulls would continue to monitor the striker’s development.

Fast forward to August, and the Premier League side have come back for the 23-year-old, if Le10 Sport are to be believed.

It’s claimed ‘a new English club has arrived’ for the player, who has also been courted by Marseille.

The Premier League club have ‘entered’ the race for Dia, and for André Villas-Boas’ side, the ‘danger will be greatest’ from Brighton.

The Premier League club will be a ‘strong opponent’ for Marseille in the chase for the Reims frontman.

According to the report, Graham Potter’s side have just started the ‘first discussions’, but have not submitted an offer for the Frenchman.

Brighton’s arrival has made it challenging for Marseille to sign Dia because the latter don’t have the ‘capacity to move’ for the striker at moment. That will almost certainly relate to finances.

Dia has managed seven goals and an assist in 24 league appearances last season.
