Brighton & Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard will have been ‘offended’ by Belgium manager Roberto Martinez’s decision to favour Eden Hazard ahead of him.
Trossard has been in fine form for Brighton at the beginning of this season, with five goals and two assists in seven games in the Premier League so far.
He started life under new manager Roberto de Zerbi in fine fashion at the weekend, bagging a hattrick in Brighton’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
He is undoubtedly the star of the show for Brighton at this moment in time and is already well on course to better the eight goals and three assists he managed last season.
Trossard was a member of the squad but was afforded just 25 minutes and 26 minutes against Wales and the Netherlands, something that analyst Filip Joos cannot understand.
“He is really in superb form,” he told Extra Time, relayed by Sporza.
“And I can’t explain why Eden Hazard was allowed to play against Wales and the Netherlands. The big problem is that you can’t fix that.
“As a national coach you have shown actually, I don’t have that confidence in you after all, because I prefer the eternal bench player of the past few years to you in two not insignificant matches.
“Even if you drop him in at the World Cup now, I think you’re still not going to see the loose Trossard from at Brighton. I don’t think it’s correct. You have offended him somehow, somewhere anyway.”
