They do say that one man’s misery is another man’s joy, and that could be the case for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister.
The Seagulls star is on the backend of that, as he could end up being called up to the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup following the decision from Villarreal to subject Giovani Lo Celso to surgery.
The midfielder has been trying to avoid going under the knife in hope of going to Qatar, but the club have taken action and told him he needs to get it sorted.
Thus, Brighton’s Mac Allister, who has enjoyed a terrific start to the season under both Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi, could replace him.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who state that following all this, the possible options to take his place in the squad are Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, Papa Gómez and Exequiel Palacios.
None of this is definite, and we will have to wait for Lionel Scaloni to announce the 26 players he wants to take to Qatar for the World Cup.
However, this could be a surprise and great moment for the Brighton man, who might not have believed he stood a chance of getting on that plane.
