It looks like Brighton fans will have to wait a little longer until they see Alexis Mac Allister making his debut for the club.

Even though the Seagulls have already paid €8.5m to sign the player back in January, it will still take a while until he’s able to play for the club.

A report from Argentine newspaper Olé today claims the midfielder is struggling to get a work permit or a EU passport.

The expectation is that his documents will only be sorted in September, when the transfer window will be closed, so he would only be joining Brighton in January 2020.

That’s the reason why Mac Allister is now being linked to a new club, Independiente.

Once his loan spell at Argentino Juniors ends this summer, the ‘Rojo’ would be interested in having the player until January. Although the first contacts from Independiente have already been reported, Brighton’s response is still not revealed by Olé.

So it looks like the Premier League side will have to make a decision on where to keep Mac Allister for the next six months.
