Brighton and Hove Albion are continuing to push for a deal for goalkeeper Kevin Mier but are short of Cruz Azul’s asking price for the player.
That’s according to Win Sports journalist Alexis Rodriguez, who reports that the Mexican side are holding out for as much as €15m for the player.
Brighton were first linked with a move for Mier earlier this year, with it explained that they had opened talks about a potential deal for the Colombian goalkeeper.
Several reports at that point in March credited them with an interest and a potential move this summer as they seemingly continued their efforts to scoop up talent from around the world.
Rodriguez now follows that up on X, reporting that Brighton have revived their interest after initially coming forward in the January transfer window.
They’ve made an offer worth €8m for the player but that is well below what Cruz Azul are looking for as they’ve set a €12-15m asking price on their player.
They have no reason to move on those demands either as Mier is tied to a contract until December 2029, meaning there is zero need for them to sell below the figure they want.
The onus then, is in Brighton, who need to put more money on the table or turn their attention elsewhere.
