Last month, Fotboll Direkt stated Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yasin Ayari is a hot candidate to change clubs in the summer window. They also reported the Premier League club are requesting €36.6m to sanction his sale.

Ayari left AIK Fotboll for Brighton in January 2023 and was on loan at Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers last season.

The 21-year-old started to get minutes after Fabian Hürzeler arrived at The Amex and he’s played 2,143 minutes from 37 games this season. He’s been linked to Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

Fotboll Direkt editor Rasmus Hjortling Olofsson insists it’s best for Ayari to continue his development at Brighton for at least one more season.

He claims the midfielder has “taken big steps” under Hürzeler, but he hasn’t cemented his place in Brighton’s starting lineup. Ayari started 20 of his 32 league games in his first full season in the Premier League.

Rasmus Hjortling Olofsson has urged the player to continue with the English club next season and focus on further improving his game. He believes it can help him attract clubs much bigger than BVB and Milan.

“Another year as a regular at the south coast club, where he can really explode and is virtually guaranteed playing time, could bring interest from even bigger clubs and thus even bigger money,” he said.

“Because in recent years alone we have seen Chelsea [Marc Cucurella, Moisés Caicedo), Arsenal [Ben White] and Liverpool [Alexis Mac Allister] pay big money for players who have had their breakthroughs at Brighton.

“Then there is definitely the chance of development in both Milan and Dortmund but the security and guarantee at Brighton weighs heavily.”

The journalist even encouraged the Sweden international to secure an exit agreement by signing an extension.

“With a contract until 2027, neither party has any stress. This agreement could also be extended with a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ that Ayari will be allowed to leave in the summer of 2026, for what will probably be more money if he continues to develop as he has done this season,” Rasmus Hjortling Olofsson explained.

“As you can see, there’s potential for sporting and financial gain for Brighton and Ayari…”
