Feyenoord are set to complete a move for Brighton and Hove Albion forward Alireza Jahanbakhsh today once he has completed a medical.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who say that a move is near to completion as they bring him in to replace Ajax bound Steven Berghuis.
They explain that Feyenoord have ‘almost signed’ Jahanbakhsh after reports over the last week that they were closing in on a deal.
He will ‘officially sign’ today once he has undergone a medical, although it isn’t made clear whether this will take place in England or the Netherlands.
There is also no mention of an asking price or his contract at this point, although it is unlikely Brighton will be getting anywhere close to the €20m they paid for him in 2018.
That move came on the back of an impressive time with AZ Alkmaar, but the Iranian never got going in England, managing just two goals in 50 Premier League appearances.
Despite that ‘lesser period’, the Rotterdammers know that Jahanbakhsh can give the squad a ‘quality injection’ and are confident he will rediscover his form in the Eredivisie.
The move will Jahanbakhsh reunite with former teammate Guus Til, who will be spending next season on loan from Spartak Moscow.
All that remains to be seen is how much Brighton are set to pocket from the deal, which appears to be very close to completion.
