Brighton & Hove Albion’s Pervis Estupiñán last made an appearance in April and has been on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

According to Olé, the Ecuador international went under the knife and has been focusing on rehabilitation in his home country, hoping to be ready for the Copa América.

The Brighton left-back has been visiting his former club, Liga de Quito, to work on his recovery.

As the season with the Seagulls is over, the 26-year-old took advantage of his free time to attend what sounds like a huge party in Quito.

The organisers shared a photo of the fullback attending the party and that didn’t go down well with a section of the Ecuadorian media. His commitment to the national team ahead of the Copa América was questioned.

‘Less than a month before the Copa América, the Ecuadorian preferred to spend his recovery at a party that shook the capital’s soil a few days ago,” an outlet said.

It’s claimed the Brighton defender is ‘very upset’ but the criticism, and didn’t hold back when responding on social media.

“Apparently you have to upload everything you do in terms of recovery so that my friends [from the media] notice. I think that if I had preferred something else over my recovery, I would still be on crutches. Drones,” he said.

Olé aren’t clear about the time frame for Estupiñán’s recovery, while insisting he should be fit on time for Brighton’s pre-season.
