Spanish outlet Fichajes has a story today about Sevilla’s urge to sign a new right-back, since Jesus Navas is heading towards the end of his career.
They say even though the Spaniard has had a great season, the fact that he’s soon turning 35 years of age means he won’t be able to stay in shape for much longer.
Fichajes says Sevilla have a list of replacements for him, and one of the names is Brighton’s Martín Montoya.
They say he’s been in good form in the Premier League, and would like to return to his home country in the future.
But there’s nothing about talks or bids for Montoya for now. The website claims that Sevilla’s list is actually pretty long, and other names which could be highlighted are those of River Plate’s Gonzalo Montiel, Villarreal’s Ruben Peña and Osasuna’s Nacho Vidal.
We reckon it should be a lot easier to get these players instead of trying to take Montoya away from the Premier League, especially because he has two more years of contract with Brighton.
