On Thursday, journalist Enzo Bucchioni said intermediaries are at work to take Fiorentina’s Igor Julio to Brighton & Hove Albion.
La Nazione now state the Seagulls have shown interest in the centre-back and have also held talks with his agent.
As well as Brighton, Fulham are also in the picture but have been lowballing on price. The Serie A side, for their part, are in ‘no great hurry’ to sell the 25-year-old.
La Nazione’s claim is also echoed by Firenzeviola.it, who state the Brazilian has ‘strong interest’ from Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
The website states it’s unlikely that any club would be willing to meet Fiorentina chairman Rocco Commisso’s request of €25m for the defender. Therefore, he may have to lower his demand.
It’s claimed Brighton have made ‘first contacts’ with Fiorentina and also with Igor’s camp. The Seagulls could offer €15m plus bonuses and even though it’s lower than the Italian club’s request, they would think about a deal.
Firenzeviola.it further add a new meeting is expected between the two clubs in the next few hours and the feeling is that the deal to take Igor to Brighton could be ‘closed even in 24-48 hours’.
It seems like De Zerbi’s side have an advantage over Fulham in the race to sign Igor.
