Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav has admitted he’s spoken to new manager Fabian Hürzeler about his future at the club.

The German striker has been speaking at a press conference while with the German national team at Euro 2024, with his club future yet to be resolved.

He spent this season on loan at VfB Stuttgart and proved to be one of the stars of the show as they qualified for the Champions League.

He and Stuttgart are keen on the deal being made permanent and the German side have been locked in negotiations on that front for some time, with the matter complicated by various clauses benefitting Brighton.

Undav, in the meantime, has made it abundantly clear that he wants to return to Stuttgart next season and build on the fine first season he enjoyed with the club.

A further twist was added to the tale with Brighton’s appointment of Fabian Hürzeler, though, with several reports making it clear that he wanted to keep Undav at the club next season.

That desire has led to the two speaking on the phone, at least according to Undav, who has hinted his plans have not changed as yet.

“Of course I was in contact with Fabian, we talked about it,” he said.

“I explained to him my vision and he explained to me what he thought of me.  But everything is very relaxed. I want to concentrate on the European Championships.”
