Brighton and Hove Albion striker Andi Zeqiri ‘has no shortage of potential buyers’ this summer as a permanent move to Basel still looks unlikely.
That’s according to Blick, who say the Swiss side still cannot afford the purchase option they negotiated with Brighton when he signed on loan last summer.
Zeqiri has spent the season on loan in his homeland after it was made clear he was not a part of Brighton’s plans this season.
He has impressed in the Super League, bagging 11 goals and two assists as well as adding five goals in 14 games in the Conference League, one in qualifiers for the that tournament and another in the Swiss Cup.
Basel would like to sign him on a permanent basis and have an option to do so but Blick say that it is ‘too expensive’ for them at this moment in time.
He instead appears set for a return to Brighton although whether that’s a long-term stay on the coast remains to be seen as he ‘has not shortage of potential buyers’ after his performances this season.
Who those suitors are isn’t mentioned, nor is the kind of fee Brighton would want given the 23-year-old is out of contract next summer, just that there are clubs for the Seagulls to sell to if they want to and Basel don’t activate their clause.
