Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen has admitted he is looking to secure “a nice transfer” away from the club this summer.
RTV Drenthe cover comments from the Brighton goalkeeper today in which he admits this summer is likely to be a busy one for him.
The 25-year-old is returning to Brighton from a two-year spell with Sturm Graz, the first year of which was ruined by a serious knee injury. He was a regular for them this season.
The Dutchman has impressed, so much so that he is now a part of Ronald Koeman’s squad for this international break. That’s come about as he seeks alternatives to Bart Verbruggen, who is out injured.
While the two are not competing on the international stage for now, it is unlikely that Scherpen will be replacing Verbruggen any time soon at Brighton.
Indeed, the belief is that Scherpen will move on from Brighton this summer, having failed to establish himself at the club since joining for €5m in 2021.
Scherpen has already hinted as much in recent comments and has now reiterated that, admitting he’s looking towards a move this summer.
“There is already interest from clubs,” he said.
“First this international match, then back to my family and then see if we can make a nice transfer.”
