Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav will be given the ‘chance of a lifetime’ this month as striker Serhou Guirassy heads to the Africa Cup of Nations and thus leaves VfB Stuttgart’s striker position open.

That’s according to BILD, who say Undav will be provided with a massive chance to prove he is worth a big outlay in the summer transfer window.

Undav joined the Bundesliga side on loan from Brighton in the summer and has been enjoying himself ever since, with nine goals in the Bundesliga so far.

That’s made him one of the ‘shooting stars’ of the season so far, with only Bayern Munich duo Harry Kane and Leroy Sané a better duo.

With Guirassy leaving to play for Guinea at AFCON, though, Undav will now get ‘the chance of a lifetime’ and prove himself further in Germany.

That could help to decide his future, with Stuttgart yet to decide on whether to activate a purchase clause in his loan deal from Brighton.

That’s currently around €18m but a recent report indicated that it could rise if Undav continues to be successful and that he was almost playing himself out of a permanent move.

However, if he now manages to successfully replace Guirassy this month, when Sebastian Hoeneß ‘will rely entirely’ on him, perhaps that can change the story. Either way, AFCON could prove to be pivotal, with Guirassy’s involvement handing the Brighton man a big opportunity to shine.
