Brighton & Hove Albion, who recently saw a loan deal for Club Brugge defender Stefano Denswil fall through, are trying their hardest to get a good number of players in on transfer deadline day after a rather tepid start to their Premier League campaign.
Picking up on point from their first three games, the Seagulls’ manager, Chris Hughton, clearly felt the need for more reinforcements, especially up in attack.
According to L’Equipe on Thursday afternoon, the newly promoted side have made an €8m bid for Angers winger Karl Toko Ekambi, who can also play through the middle.
The offer from Brighton & Hove Albion is also said to include €1m in bonuses.
The French newspaper explain the Premier League side have been looking at the possibility of signing the Cameroon international for a few weeks now, and, for some reason, have decided to leave it this late to make an official bid.
Arriving from FC Sochaux last year for just under £1m, the 24-year-old was one of Angers’ main protagonists, starting 29 league games, scoring seven goals and picking up five assists.
Continuing that form this year, Toko Ekambi has scored one goal and assisted his teammates once so far in three league appearances.
