Brighton have decided against signing Ansu Fati on a permanent basis from Barcelona this summer and have informed the Catalans of their stance.
That’s according to Sport, who say Brighton have not been convinced and he doesn’t have a future at Barcelona either.
The newspaper reports that it is ‘practically impossible’ for Fati to play for Barcelona again as they’ve already made the decision not to count on him as part of their next sporting project.
They’re busy looking for a club to sell him to as Brighton, where he has spent the season on loan, have decided against making a permanent move for him.
They had signed in the summer on loan in the hope of reenergising his career and getting him back on track but instead a season full of injuries has meant he’s made little impact on Roberto de Zerbi’s squad.
They’re unconvinced by what they’ve seen as a result and are not intending to send him back to Barcelona without making an offer to sign him permanently.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, is aware that neither side want him and is ‘already trying to advance’ an operation with various parties as there is interest in Spain in the player.
Either way, he won’t be joining Brighton and Barcelona want rid, so it’s set be another summer of Mendes working and Fati presumably being a hot topic of conversation.
This, of course, goes against Spanish claims earlier in the week.
