If there’s one area Chris Hughton is looking to improve outside of the central striker role, it’s that of the defensive midfielder.
According to Le10 Sport, Brighton have been looking at a number of players for the role over the past few months, including Ibrahim Amadou, currently contracted to Lille in France.
The Ligue 1 side’s captain was involved in a big transfer deadline day story, travelling to London in order to try and get a move to either Crystal Palace or West Ham sorted quickly, but that never went through.
However, it appears the Seagulls have now moved on from the 24-year-old, and are now focusing on another midfielder in the league: Jean-Eudes Aholou.
The Strasbourg defensive has been key to the promoted side’s impressive efforts in their first campaign back in the top flight, missing just one league game this season, scoring five goals along the way.
The 23-year-old only arrived from US Orléans a year ago for a relatively small fee, and it could very well be the Ligue 1 side make a quick profit if they can sell in the summer.
Either way, Brighton apparently like what they see, having watched him ‘very recently’ and are monitoring his performances.
