There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Brighton & Hove Albion are showing interest in Trabzonspor defender Arseniy Batagov.

The Ukraine international has impressed for the Super Lig side since his arrival last summer, which has brought him to the attention of others, including Brighton.

Sporx report on Brighton’s interest in Batagov, and state the Premier League side are monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation.

The Seagulls will be looking to add to their squad this summer and it seems the Ukrainian could be option to strengthen  defence. Trabzonspor are reportedly keen to keep hold of the player, but if they receive offers in the region of €20m they will consider selling.

Trabzonspor are already in talks to sign a like for like replacement, with efforts ongoing for Ipswich Town defender Axel Tuanzebe.

The Turkish club’s president today confirmed ongoing efforts to sign Tuanzebe on a free transfer when his contract expires next month. Ipswich Town have an option to extend his current deal for another season and have also reportedly offered him a new contract.

Batagov made 18 league appearances last season, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to the Trabzon club until June 2029.
