West Brom and Sunderland fans will know all about Stéphane Sessegnon, the Benin international who spent over five years in the Premier League.
Scoring 25 goals and picking up 25 assists over 166 appearances in England’s top flight, the 33-year-old spent last season with Montpellier after running down his contract with the Baggies, and he’s now back on the radar of English clubs.
According to L’Equipe in France, Chris Hughton’s Brighton are the ones in the Premier League interested, while a couple of clubs in China’s second division are also monitoring the situation.
Not exactly impressing with two goals and two assists last year in 27 league appearances, the veteran forward is said to want to try something new.
Whether that is a return to the Premier League remains to be seen, as he’s already done that, but it seems his choice will depend greatly on what he prioritises right now.
Does he still want to play competitive football, meaning a move to to AMEX Stadium with Brighton or does he just want a whole new footballing experience, which a move to China would offer?
