Brighton and Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard says he is convinced he can move to a bigger club than the Seagulls in the future but wants to grow with the club first.

The Belgian joined Brighton in an £18m deal from KRC Genk last season and enjoyed a solid first season at the club, scoring five goals and registering three assists in 31 games.

This year he’s looking to kick on from that and has enjoyed a relatively good start to the season, with a goal and an assist in Brighton’s first four Premier League games.

At 25-years-old, this is very much the year where Trossard needs to prove he is worth the step up, although he believes he can do so.

“I am convinced that a player of our generation will manage to land a transfer to a big English club,” he told Sport/Foot Magazine.

Because these kind of clubs are looking above all for big names or players who have experience of the Premier League.

“I feel good at Brighton, and I want to grow up with this club, but I know that I still have enough room for improvement to run for a place in a club in the English sub-top.”

Aside from proving himself for Brighton and catching the eye of a team higher up the Premier League, this is also a key year for Trossard’s international hopes.

With Euro 2020 delayed until next year, it gives him, as well as several other players who may not have made the cut, a chance to impress Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.

Starring for Brighton week in week out will undoubtedly do that, and Trossard is of the same mindset and says making the tournament is his main aim.

“Last season, I showed up in the Premier League, and Martinez saw that I was doing well in a big league. My versatility is an asset,” he added.

“It depends on whether the season goes well or not. It’s nice to be able to experience a European Championship or a World Cup from the inside, but if I come out of a brilliant season, I would find it normal to be entitled to a few minutes of play as a substitute.

“In this case, we at least have the impression of having participated. I don’t want to be the fifth wheel of the cart.

“But, if you ask me what my wish is: I want to be present at EURO at all costs.
