Serie A side Brescia are close to signing Brighton & Hive Albion defender Ales Mateju, according to claims from Italy on Sunday.
Newspaper Corriere Della Serra has a story today about all the moves the second division club are doing, and considers the 22-year-old’s arrival as pretty much done.
According to the report, Mateju will be joining Brescia on a loan deal, which actually includes an obligatory buying clause at the end of the season for an amount of €5m.
Brighton could also end up making a little more in case the player reaches certain performance targets which trigger bonuses.
Ales Mateju joined Brighton last summer, signing on a €2.5m deal from Czech side Viktoria Pilsen.
But the player failed to prove he deserved a chance in the club’s first team, as he spent most of the time playing for the reserve squad, and only made two official appearances in the FA Cup.
