Brighton and Hove Albion are one of the suitors for San Lorenzo’s Elián Irala, with the midfielder a firm target for Porto Alegre.

That’s according to El Crack Deportivo, who insist that Brighton have the 20-year-old in their sights and want to sign him.

They report that while Porto Alegre have already made a bid for the midfielder, Brighton’s interest in him has also become apparent.

The Brazilian side have offered $4m for 80% of the youngster’s rights, but Brighton also have him in their sights and could look to trump that.

They’ve made a habit of scouring South America for talent over the last decade and been very successful at it and Irala could be the next name on their list.

There could be a deal there to be done too as San Lorenzo look favourably on selling players if they can receive ‘good sums of money’. Brighton can certainly offer that and haven’t shown any reluctance to spending their cash in the past.

San Lorenzo would want $4.6m net if they are to sell, a figure that it wouldn’t be difficult for the Premier League side to offer. Irala, for his part, has not taken any position or made any feelings known about the interest in him.h

Now, we’d offer caution on this as El Crack Deportivo tend to have Brighton linked to every South American youngster when they have a small amount of success or do well and this could be another case of that.

Irala is another name to add to the list, though, as Brighton continue to scoop up talent from around the world.
