Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in VfL Wolfsburg winger Patrick Wimmer, but face competition from RB Leipzig.
That’s according to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung and Aller Zeitung, relayed by Fussball Transfers, who report that the 24-year-old ‘could sign a contract in England immediately’.
They report that Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler is keen on the Austria international, and a contract is ready to be signed.
Wimmer is hesitant to actually put his signature to it at this moment in time. That is because of the interest from RB Leipzig. He would prefer to head there but they are delaying a move until they’ve sorted out a new manager. That continues to drag on and so no move for Wimmer is happening yet.
Werder Bremen, for their part, are demanding at least €20m for the winger. That’s not seen as posing a problem for the interest parties. Whether Brighton have made a bid isn’t made clear.
They are seen as being an interested party and have a contract ready for the player, which would indicate their interest is strong.
They just need to work on convincing Wimmer, who appears to be focused on Leipzig for the time being.
