Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Leeds United are reportedly some of the clubs in the race to sign KRC Genk left-back Gerard Arteaga.
The Mexican media has today been making quite a noise about this story, which was originally published by Marca.
The outlet wrote that Brighton, Fulham and Leeds are the ‘best positioned’ clubs in the pursuit for the 23-year-old, as the Premier League sides ‘follow him very closely’.
The Seagulls, Cottagers and Whites aren’t alone in the competition, as the list includes the likes of Salernitana, Real Betis, Villarreal, Celta Vigo and Getafe.
Despite highlighting all this competition, Marca doesn’t bring any details if there are any specific clubs in advanced talks to sign the Mexican player, or how much Genk would demand for his sale this summer.
Arteaga, who has 14 caps for the national team, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at only €4m. With the likes of Brighton, Fulham and Leeds all able to pay a lot more, it sounds unlikely that the Belgian side would let him leave for that much.
