Brighton & Hove Albion have entered the race for midfielder Florian Grillitsch ‘strongly’ as they look to secure the Austrian’s signature.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who back up claims from Turkey yesterday that Brighton have made a move for the free agent.

They explain that Grillitsch is one of the ‘luxury free agents’ on the market at present, having failed to sign for a new club after leaving Hoffenheim at the end of last season.

He’s been linked with clubs all over Europe, mostly in Italy, and yesterday we covered a report from Turkey that stated clubs there had seen bids turned down by the player.

They also claimed that Brighton had seen an initial effort to convince him to join them rejected as well. That followed claims in England, which didn’t name Brighton, that stated a Premier League team had entered the race for his signature.

TMW back this up and state that while the player is being followed by the likes of Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina, Brighton have also ‘come forward’ and made contact with the player’s agent.

This is something Sport Witness are also able to confirm, with a source stating that ‘talks are going on’ between the Seagulls and the midfielder.

Now TMW’s report states that tomorrow could be ‘decisive’ in determining his future, but as their article was from last night, that means today, so keep an eye out for further developments.
