When Benfica completed Darwin Núñez’s signing last summer, they managed to do it by beating several clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls still have plans to make an attempt to land the striker in the current window.

On August 3rd, Record reported the Eagles rejected the English club’s €30m offer for the 22-year-old.

Later that day, we covered claims made by A Bola that there’s ‘no expectation of a sale’ because Benfica value the Uruguay international at much more than €30m.

Jorge Jesus’ side turning down Brighton’s bid for the former Almería man is reported by Calciomercato.it and, in an exclusive, the website also provides additional information on this case.

It’s claimed the Premier League side ‘doesn’t give up’ chasing the frontman and have made another proposal to Benfica.

Graham Potter’s side have ‘presented a new offer’ of €32m plus bonuses, which will include a percentage of a future sale. There isn’t a mention if the ‘new offer’ made by Brighton for the South American will be accepted or rejected by Benfica.

Núñez finished his debut season in Portugal with 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
