It seems that a couple of Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea players won’t be able to get any rest this summer.
According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Enzo Fernandez and Valentin Barco are set to take part in the Olympics.
The reporter claims that the players have spoken to Brighton and Chelsea and have approval to take part in the U-23 tournament.
The reason they won’t get any time off is that they’re also in Argentina’s squad for the Copa America, as announced on Monday morning.
The Copa America takes place between June 20th and July 14th, while football in the Olympics will be played between July 24th and August 10th.
It then becomes clear that the duo won’t take part in all of Brighton’s and Chelsea’s pre-season, as the 2024/25 Premier League kicks off on August 17th.
It’s well known that South Americans show huge desire to play for their national teams, and following the World Cup title, Argentines have shown even bigger love for their country’s squad. Now it seems they’re willing to give up their summer vacations for that.
