It appears that Brighton & Hove Albion are all over the place when it comes to letting Facundo Buonanotte play for Argentina at the U-20 World Cup.

It was initially stated that Roberto De Zerbi didn’t want the playmaker to go, as he would miss the last few games of the season that could be important in the Seagulls’ run-in.

Then came the news that the player had convinced Brighton to let him go, but there has been a new U-turn in the dramatic saga, as César Luis Merlo now reports that the Premier League club have changed their mind.

He announced on Twitter that Luka Romero, contracted to Lazio, will play at the U-20 World Cup instead of Buonanotte.

The reason for that is despite Brighton ‘giving the yes’ to their player that he could play, they have since communicated to the Argentine FA that ‘they will not be letting him go’.

That’s why they have turned their attention to Romero, who will now play in the stead of the Seagulls youngster.
