Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney has told the German media he’s not thinking about a move to England. The 25 year old has been linked with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, and before that was the subject of a prolonged pursuit from Everton.

Speaking to Latten Kreuz, Delaney was asked about interest from Brighton, and whether he could be tempted into his dream move to the Premier League this window: “I am young, I still have a lot of time. It’s not in my head right now. I can still do that.”

Last month we covered reports from Germany that Brighton had tabled a bid of €12m for the Denmark international, which was rejected by the German side.

The club’s sporting director Frank Baumann confirmed Delaney wouldn’t be leaving the German side, having only arrived from FC Copenhagen last season.

Everton have been showing an interest in the Dane for some time, and had made an attempt to sign the player both before and after Werder reached an agreement. Brighton’s attempts seemed less serious, although more recent, than those of Everton.

Werder came to an agreement with Copenhagen last summer, which was to see Delaney move midway through the season, but Everton tried to step in and offer the German club a profit without ever actually having the midfielder in their squad.

Ronald Koeman was clearly very keen but Everton were too late, and Brighton’s summer attempts haven’t been enough to tempt Delaney or shake Werder.

Delaney is contracted to Werder Bremen until June 2021.
