Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford may have been busy scouting Famalicão’s Gustavo Sá, with interest in him growing.
That’s according to Jornal do Noticias, who report that the 20-year-old seems destined for a move outside of Portugal in the coming months.
A report back in October named Brighton and Brentford as suitors for the midfielder, explaining that Famalicão had put an initial €15m asking price on the youngster.
JN now report that Sá is ‘highly rated’ in England and Germany and is currently one of the ‘most sought-after players’ in the Portuguese League.
His performances are not going unnoticed and after already being associated with Porto and Sporting Club de Portugal, teams in the Premier League and Bundesliga are keen too.
They have ‘gathered more information’ about the promising midfielder and a transfer is very viable in either January or next summer. The newspaper does not name Brighton and Brentford specifically, to be clear.
However, given both were named earlier this year, it is likely that they are in the mix and keeping an eye on his development a month later.
If they do decide to move, they won’t have to match the €25m release clause in his current contract as JN have found out that a potential deal can be done for a ‘lower value’.
Sá wants to play in the ‘more competitive leagues’ in European football too, turning his back on interest from Saudi Arabia because of this. That means a move to the Premier League or Bundesliga would be tempting, whether Brighton or Brentford offer it remains to be seen.
