Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken is a ‘concrete candidate’ for Bayer Leverkusen this summer and talks have taken place about him.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that the Brentford goalkeeper also has suitors in the Premier League.
He explains that Flekken is a ‘concrete candidate’ for Leverkusen this summer, with him reporting at the beginning of April that initial talks had taken place, and he was one of three candidates as they seek a new goalkeeper.
It was explained at that point that Flekken was planning to take a ‘bigger step’ in the summer and Brentford valued him at €15m.
Plettenberg now reports that ‘further talks’ have taken place, although it is unclear if this is with Flekken’s representatives or Brentford. We would assume the former as they try to set something up.
There is competition, though, as other teams from England have entered the race for the Brentford number one.
Plettenberg makes it clear that this is a problem as while Leverkusen would like him, they don’t want to sign him ‘at any price’. In other words, they don’t want to get dragged into a bidding war with Premier League teams who can probably pay more than them.
It’s a situation to keep an eye on, but the interest in the Brentford man is there and talks are taking place behind the scenes.
