Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is unlikely to move to Napoli in the near future, if Aurelio de Laurentiis’ previous comments are to be believed.
That’s according to his agent, Frederic Guerra, who has responded to the rumours about his client and interest from the Italian side.
Mbuemo has been impressing in the Premier League since Brentford were promoted to the topflight from the Championship last season.
The 23-year-old has a rapidly growing reputation, with sides in England and outside believed to be interested in his signature.
One of the latter are Napoli, who have been linked with a move. Indeed, a recent report made it clear that his performances have led him to being appreciated by the Serie A side, who are reportedly fans of his set pieces.
That was followed by his agent commenting on a potential move, admitting that he has an agreement to leave Brentford if he wants it.
He’s now been asked about the apparent interest from Napoli but suggested it may be unlikely given previous comments from their president.
“Being his first World Cup, he did what he could do. At the World Cup the level is really high, the players are very strong,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Tutto Napoli.
“I don’t know (about Napoli). I remember when De Laurentiis said he would no longer take African players because he pays them and then they go to the African Cup of Nations.”
