Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has admitted he’s “not happy” with his current situation at the club, but respects Thomas Frank’s decisions, nonetheless.
Janelt has found himself out of the picture somewhat this season, with increased competition for places at Brentford seeing him in and out of the side.
While he has still been in the starting 11 63% of the time in the Premier League this season and featured in 67% of the available minutes, that is a drop for a man who started 27 of the 32 games he was in the squad for last season.
The last two games have seen him managing just 14 minutes as a substitute off the bench, with Thomas Frank even apologising after the game for not giving him enough playing time.
He’s been reluctant to change a Brentford side that’s been on a superb run of form, going 12 games unbeaten and continuing to compete for a place in Europe.
“I had spoken to the coach on Sunday in training,” he told Kicker.
“You’re not happy as a player if you’re not on the pitch every game, but I know my situation and what I can bring to the team.
“I respect every decision the coach makes, everyone knows how hard it is to pick eleven players at the end of the day. Right now, it’s not particularly positive for me that our biggest competition is in midfield.
“But a lot always happens, suspensions and injuries, which you don’t hope for, but you always have to be ready and then take your chance. I can only bring my performance in training and in the game.”
