FC Bayern are now ‘very optimistic’ that they can sign Kieran Trippier and today could be key to the deal going through.
That’s according to BILD, who say there has been a ‘breakthrough in negotiations’ and the defender could be on his way to Germany.
They report that Bayern have managed to break through in talks over the full-back and according to their information, Bayern’s bosses are now very optimistic of a deal taking place.
A final decision on the potential move for the Englishman will be made today, with Bayern putting pressure on themselves and wanting a quick solution to the matter.
They won’t to do anything ‘economically unreasonable’ and believe in the strength of their current squad but at the same time, want to strengthen for manager Thomas Tuchel.
In that regard Trippier is seen as ‘a dream player’ for the German coach and the fact that Newcastle ‘do not seem averse’ to letting him go means they think there is a deal there to be done.
The sticking point at the moment is that Newcastle would prefer to sell, for a fee of €10-15m, while Bayern want a loan. A proposal for the latter has already been turned down because Newcastle need the money.
Bayern’s bosses are currently concerning themselves with Trippier’s high wages at St James Park as taking them on would make the deal very expensive and then not worth it.
They need to work out an agreement on that front, but talks are underway and today is the decisive day.
