Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Athletico-PR youngster Otávio, with the 15-year-old yet to sign a professional contract with the Brazilian side.
That’s according to GOAL Brazil, who say the striker ‘stands out’ for his height and the goals he’s been scoring in the youth categories in his homeland.
That has seemingly earned him interest from Tottenham, whose scouts in the country have picked up on his performances and earmarked him as one to keep an eye on.
The 15-year-old forward is the ‘new star’ of Athletico-PR’s sub-17 category after finishing as one of the club’s top goal scorers in the Sub-15 category and South-Brazil tournament last year.
Following that high he was moved up to the sub-17 section and has continued to be among the goals, bagging one of the winning goals in the win over Barra-SC on Wednesday in the Copa do Brasil Sub-17.
His goalscoring form isn’t going unnoticed and ‘draws the attention’ of ‘watchers’ from Tottenham in particular.
There is no mention of them making any sort of move at present but that would be tricky anyway given the complicated rules for British clubs when it comes to signing under 18 players, particularly from South America after Brexit.
Otávio doesn’t turn 16 until April 24th of this year meaning he is yet to sign a professional contract with Athletico as yet, but they will presumably be moving quickly to ensure he does now that Tottenham’s interest has become public knowledge.
