Neymar extended his contract earlier in the summer, which could keep him at the Catalan club at least until 2021.
The Brazilian star has been followed by several top European clubs, the very few who have the money to sign him, but the 24-year-old is very much committed to staying at Barcelona.
Manchester United, Paris-Saint Germain, Manchester City and Real Madrid are the clubs it’s stated are always waiting for the Brazilian to give them the green signal.
Neymar’s father has been speaking to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo about interest from other clubs.
Neymar Santos Sr. confirmed Manchester United wanted to sign the Barcelona star in the summer of 2015, and even made a proposal to the Spanish giants.
He said: “It would be flippant and reckless of me to talk about proposals. Of course, they can make some inquiries. We had a proposal in the summer of 2015, after Manchester United made a proposal to Barcelona.”
It was always highly unlikely Neymar would leave Barcelona to sign for Manchester United at that time. The Brazilian had just won the famous treble of Copa del Rey, La Liga and Champions League at the Catalan club, and was clearly happy in the trident.
