As Arsenal and Manchester United target Kaiky was interviewed today by ESPN Brasil, it was impossible not to talk about the brilliant future he seems to have ahead of him.
The 17-year-old has been shining in his first months as a professional, and his performance last week against Boca Juniors, where he did a great job stopping Carlos Tevez, got big attention from the local media.
That’s when he got linked to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, with reports from Brazil saying the Premier League clubs keep ‘frequent contact’ with his entourage.
Now speaking to ESPN, the teenager was asked about the rumours, and claimed to only be focused on his success with Santos for now.
”This conversation is more with my agent, but my thoughts at the moment are at Santos”, Kaiky told ESPN Brasil.
“I love this club very much, I don’t want to leave soon, I want to win many titles here, it’s the club I support, the club of my heart. I hope to build a beautiful story here, win many titles and then think about the way out”.
Kaiky is well protected by Santos with a contract until 2023 and a release clause of €70m.
Since the teenager has been getting regular starts in Copa Libertadores, he’d have no problem in getting a work permit to feature for the likes of the Gunners or the Red Devils.
With Arsenal and Manchester United getting constantly linked to central defenders, perhaps the youngster could soon become a viable option for both clubs, although the problem is that he can only move in January 2022, when he turns 18.
