The Brazilian media, especially UOL, did a great job following Philippe Coutinho’s saga during the entire summer. And now they come with what could be their last update, as they report the result of Barcelona’s final attempt for the midfielder.
They claim Liverpool rejected the fourth and last bid for the player, which could have gone up to €160m including bonuses.
People around Coutinho (which are very likely to be his representatives) reportedly ‘threw in the towel’ as they didn’t believe the transfer could be done in time.
UOL repeats what they’ve claimed before, that they heard a source at Liverpool saying he wouldn’t be sold for even €500m, and it seems they stood by it in the end.
Despite missing the start of the season because of a back pain, Coutinho presented himself normally to the national team, and played against Ecuador this, even managing to score a beautiful goal.
Liverpool will hope for more of the same soon.
