Manchester City’s visit to the Arena do Grêmio last night was widely reported by the Brazilian media, who believed the scouts were keeping an eye on one player from Grêmio and one from Flamengo.
Both Everton and Lucas Paquetá had good performances for their clubs in the game, with the latter being selected as the man of the match by the local press.
With the scouting work being done, a few media outlets started writing about the chance of each of these players making the move. And both sound a bit unlikely for now.
Globo Esporte writes that Grêmio’s intention is to give Everton a new contract.

Flamengo don’t want to sell him for less than the €50m release clause, and journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho claims that the intention is to hold him until at least the end of the year.
ESPN Brasil journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira also tweeted a few interesting words on the alleged interest from Manchester City. He says: “Paquetá has a release clause of €50m and is still far from a valuation in the European market that motivates a club there to shell out so much money. But agents interested in negotiating the athlete will probably make it seem like it, leaking rumours. After he plays for the national team, maybe…”
