As Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to look for a new manager, they’re again being linked to one of the first names reported when they sacked Bruno Lage.
That’s Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira, who’s currently working in Brazil. The 54-year-old is in charge of Corinthians, where he only has a contract until the end of the year.
His renewal with the Timão is uncertain, and as Band host Neto brings some information today, he says that the boss isn’t staying for another season.
There are two major reasons for that. Firstly, because his staff, who are from Portugal, don’t want the renewal. Secondly, because his mother-in-law, also from Portugal, is in ill health.
Neto then points out that there are two Premier League clubs without a manager, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, ignoring that the Villans have just announced Unai Emery as their new boss.
It’s said that Vitor Pereira, who previously managed Porto, Al-Ahli, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, 1860 Munich and Shangai SIPG, could then take charge of ‘one of the two’.
Neto, who’s a very honest and funny figure, points out that his information is ‘not 100%’, admitting that he’d like Vitor Pereira to stay at Corinthians. He also claims that in case he’s wrong, he wants the manager or the club president to call him and dismiss the news.
Wolves sacked Bruno Lage at the start of the month, and Steve Davis has been in charge since. In case Vitor Pereira actually leaves Corinthians, that should happen in the middle of November, as the Brazilian season ends right before the World Cup.
