Following the surprising reports that Arsenal could be close to signing Bahia midfielder Ramires in January, the Brazilian press has been trying to know a little bit more about the case.
First it was his agent Uéslei who was contacted.
Speaking to Sport Witness earlier this week, he confirmed that Arsenal have scouted the player, but turned down any claims of talks with the Gunners.
Now Bahia are also saying something about the situation. Vice president Vitor Ferraz has spoken to Rádio Metropole, and despite confirming that the player has been watched, he’s claimed that no bids have been made for the midfielder so far.
“Its a period when evaluations are constantly made and it’s normal for this type of approach to arrive, that scouts come here and evaluate the athlete more closely and we are aware of all this,” Ferraz told Rádio Metrópole.
“In contractual terms, the athlete is well protected and our job is to guide him and make him worry about playing football.”
Although many reports in Brazil have been talking about the situation, no one seems to really know how much Bahia would demand for the player. In case we had to guess, we’d say that €10-15m would be enough for Arsenal to get him.
