When the Bordeaux forward Malcom made public that he’s studying English this weekend, most of the British outlets turned it into a Manchester United story.
The Brazilian, who revealed the classes in an Instagram post, has been linked to the Red Devils for a few months now, and the fact he’s learning the language could be a hint over a move to England.
But while the British outlets are looking one way, the Brazilian press seems to be doing the opposite. Because when reporting these news today, UOL makes it clear that Manchester United are not the only option that Malcom has in England… with Tottenham very much in the picture.
Back in late December, the website reported that Tottenham Hotspur were actually the first to make a bid for the player, and had a €35m offer rejected by Bordeaux.
That’s why for UOL, the fact that Malcom is studying English could be a good sign for any of the three Premier League clubs who have been following him: Manchester United, Tottenham or Arsenal.
But as Spurs have been told that the player is very unlikely to leave in January, maybe these clubs better wait until the summer window.
If Malcom continues his form, Mauricio Pochettino may find it harder to beat the competition, but at least the player’s English should be better by then.
