Despite missing the start of the season for Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho has joined the Brazilian national team squad normally ahead of the next World Cup Qualifiers.
The player hasn’t been training for Liverpool due to a back injury, but reports from Brazil are saying he’s fine to play for his country.
Globo Esporte claims that the national team staff ‘expect him to present himself in condition to train and play’ as they all believe the real reason he hasn’t been training is because of negotiations with Barcelona.
UOL has different claims, and says that due to the lack of training, Coutinho could end up losing his starting spot to Willian, who’s having a good start to the season at Chelsea.
They say although manager Tite doesn’t like to get involved in transfers, he’s keeping an eye on this special situation. The reason he called up the player is because he feels it’s important to have all the stars in the squad as the World Cup is getting close.
Brazil’s next game is against Ecuador on Thursday night, South American time, and the transfer window will be closed by then.
So maybe Coutinho will be cured by midnight, be good to play and get back to Liverpool with a smile on his face.
